Thank you again for your support as we continue our efforts to support Fort de Chartres.
Congratulations to our Fort de Chartres Photo Boom finalists! Favorite Fort photos were submitted by various area photographers and our select panel of judges made its choices. You might notice they couldn’t pick just 10 Fort photo favorites, so we had 12 entries to display. Over the summer months these 12 photos were displayed online and during the monthly cannon shoots July 1, August 5, and September 2 and during the September Artillery Safety School at Fort de Chartres on September 9 and 10. The public was asked to vote at the Fort site when the photos were displayed in the Trading Post during the summer cannon events or vote were cast online through September 10 (details outlined below). To view a larger image of any of the contest photos in the page’s contest photo carousel above, just click on the desired photo in the display.
Votes were cast by making a $1 donation for each vote for favorite Fort photos as often as one liked, no limit on number of votes that could be cast. The photographer’s photo with the most votes, raising the most funds, was to be our grand winner, and was to be announced after the September Cannon School. The winning photo will be placed in the Fort de Chartres Museum in a place of honor for one full year.
All Photo Boom contest proceeds will be used to make much needed and necessary repairs to the Fort de Chartres Cannon and this photo contest is sponsored by Les Amis du Fort de Chartres.
Thank you to everyone who submitted photos and to all those who voted in our contest. Your votes will help repair our Fort cannon!
