LES COUREURS DES BOIS DE FORT DE CHARTRES MONTHLY MEETING AND SHOOT – 2nd SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH
Flintlock only muzzle loading shoot by participants in historic clothes. The meeting will start at 1:00 PM.
LES AMIS DU FORT DE CHARTRES MONTHLY MEETING – 2nd SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH
This is an organized group of volunteers that supports the fort. Anyone is welcome to attend. The meeting will start at 3:00 PM.
LES PAYS DES ILLINOIS COLONIAL TRADE FAIRE AND MUSKET AND RIFLE FROLIC – APRIL 1, 2, & 3
This event is sponsored by the Chasseurs du Datchurat and features 1750-1790 historically dressed participants, camps, music, games, crafts, merchants, and shooting competitions. KID’S DAY – MAY 7
Bring the kids and let them have fun at a great historic site while participating in 18th century games and other activities. This event is sponsored by Les Amis du Fort de Chartres, with additional event site support by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency. Activities will run from 10:00AM to 3:00PM, with the Kid’s Day Auction held at 3:00PM.
46TH ANNUAL FORT DE CHARTRES RENDEZVOUS – JUNE 4 & 5
This is one of the largest Rendezvous in the Midwest and features 18th century historically dressed participants, camps, crafts, music, entertainment, food, and shooting matches. This event is presented by Les Coureurs des Bois de Fort de Chartres and sponsored by Les Amis du Fort de Chartres, with additional event site support by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency. The event runs from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM both days and there is a $5.00 parking fee per day. The schedule of events can be found HERE.
CANNON FIRING DEMONSTRATIONS – 1st SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH FROM JULY-SEPTEMBER
At 10:00AM, 12:00PM, and 2:00PM, a crew of French artillery reenactors will fire two cannon shots and give a brief history talk.
MUZZLE LOADING BLACK POWDER ARTILLERY SAFETY SCHOOL – SEPT. 10 & 11
Artillery reenactors participate in yearly safety training and demonstrate live cannon firing. Training runs 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday and live firing demonstrations are on Sunday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
THE ANNUAL FORT DE CHARTRES FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR ENCAMPMENT – OCT. 1 & 2
1750s historically dressed Native American, soldier, militia, and camp follower re-enactors participate in everyday camp activities. This event is sponsored by Les Amis du Fort de Chartres, with additional event site support by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency. It runs from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM both days.
3RD ANNUAL WORLD WAR II DAY AT FORT DE CHARTRES STATE HISTORIC SITE – OCT. 8
This event is co-sponsored by the LAH Living History Association and the U.S. 2nd Ranger Infantry Battalion of St. Louis. It will be a large scale event featuring World War 2 era static displays, demonstrations, and re-enactments. The event will run from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
FORT DE CHARTRES WINTER RENDEZVOUS – NOV. 5 & 6
This event features 18th and early 19th century camp life and re-enactors who participate in a muzzleloader woods walk shooting competition. This event is sponsored by Les Amis du Fort de Chartres, with additional event site support by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency. It runs from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday and 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Sunday.
PRAIRIE DU ROCHER LA GUIANNEE AT FORT DE CHARTRES – DEC. 31
The Prairie du Rocher La Guiannee visits the site to play period music and sing. Light refreshments will be served and this event runs from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
